This weekend

I can't help but keep getting excited over the changes in Dylan. Today I took him to a special thing they had at Red Mill for the future Kindergarteners. They took the kids (by themselves, no parents) into a K classroom to hang out w/ the teachers and current K students and do an art project and play on the playground etc. Dylan went with the group with no problem. There was another kid there that is in Dylan's pre-k class who is normally fairly outgoing who wouldn't go with the group. He held onto his mom and cried. I have to admit that it was kind of a nice feeling to not be that mom for once. :)

We went to Baltimore (Inner Harbor) yesterday to spend the day. There was a lady outside at the Harbor who had a model set up that showed the concept of 'water shed' and how the dirt and stuff can wash down into the bay. She was showing it to the boys and asked if Dylan wanted to help her by squirting the water onto the model - and to our surprise, he went right up and helped her. Normally he would have just looked down at his feet and ignored the person or he would have asked me to help him do it (wanting me to physically take his hand and do it for him) or he'd just grunt and turn away - on a good day he would have simply shook his head 'no'. But yesterday he instantly helped her out with the project. Later that night he told me that helping out with that project was one of his favorite parts of the day - that and the elevator in the parking garage (even though we spent hours at an awesome hands-on children's museum - lol). You never know what will amaze them the most.

It took forever to make the switch, but Cameron is finally sleeping in a big boy bed. A few months ago we tried to get him to sleep in bunk beds in Dylan's room, but he didn't want to switch rooms. Plus since his crib was still up he would fall asleep in Dylan's room and then want in his crib in the middle of the night. So this weekend Chan took apart the bunk beds and took down the crib and now each of the boys has a single bed in their room. We figured that we'd do what we did with Dylan - just remove the crib all together so that there was no temptation to go back to it. I didn't want to wait any longer to make the switch - I wouldn't want to push Cam out of the crib and give it to the baby. So now the boys are both in their own room with their own beds and Cam is doing wonderfully. He just lays down and goes to sleep! He sleeps all night long and, just like Dylan did, he stays in bed in the morning until we come and get him. Now we don't know where the baby will go! He'll be in our room in the bassinet for awhile, but then what? I guess we'll wait and see if Cam is ready to move to Dylan's room by then - if not, Dylan said the baby can sleep in his room. I know that everything will work out in the end, so there is no need to worry about it.
