You know that Transformer that I ended up spending $50 on because it was THE gift Dylan wanted from Santa? He never plays with it. You need a degree in structural engineering to get it together. lol. He plays with it a little bit, but it's very complex for a 5 yr old. I'm sure he'll grow into it. He would have been crushed if Santa didn't bring it.
Gabriel now has 4 teeth and loves to bite. He babbles all day long and will be crawling any day now. As soon as you sit him on the floor he plops down onto his belly and tries to creep toward stuff but can't seem to get anywhere. He loves to wave bye-bye and has a strong desire to clap but ends up just flapping his arms. He loves music and bops along whenever you sing or play a song.
Cameron is sick right now - goopy eyes, fever, cough - a little bit of everything. He's on eye drops, antibiotics and some over the counter meds. One minute he'll be bouncing off the walls like usual and then he'll lay down and take a nap. I guess it's a sinus infection of some sort. He's in great spirits for being sick.
Cameron is amazing us with his reading and spelling (and telling time and counting). He's counting into the hundreds (w/ occasional help on some #'s). Whenever he sees a bus he likes to say what number it is "Bus number 56! Bus number 39!" So he's doing great with his number recognition as well as his counting. At night when we read books Dylan will read one page and Cam will try to read the next. He's doing pretty good and getting a lot of the words. He is learning the Kindergarten word ring (words kindergarteners need to be able to read & spell by the end of the year -- there are 60+ words)... and to think he has a few years before kindergarten yet!
Dylan is doing amazingly with his reading, writing & spelling. It seems like every other day he's coming home with a prize for having the best writing in class that day or for getting the most words right during a game. He can write complete paragraphs on his own now. Of course there are occasional spelling errors, but then again he's only 5. I still love that he raises his hand and answer questions in class. Even if he doesn't always know the answer he still always raises his hand and gives it a try.
Dylan is too smart for his own good. I was online and found out how to do one of Criss Angels magic tricks. (He's a famous magaician in case you're unfamiliar w/ him). I did the trick thinking that I would amaze him.... he just looked at me and said "You probably just....." and he explained what he thought I did -- and he was right! When I told Chan about it he said "I wouldn't have known how you did it." So much for foolin' a 5 yr old.
I guess that's enough bragging about my kids for now. As every mom out there knows, it's our job to be overly proud of our children. :)
