I just love that the boys keep saying over and over "This is the BEST Christmas ever!". It makes me happy to see how happy and appreciative they are. The biggest hit of the day was the arrival of "Patch" (aka: Phil) the boys' new guinea pig that we got them. They are in love and have spent the last 12 hours fighting over who gets to hold him next. When we got them the guinea pig we were worried that the boys wouldn't really care that much for him. Over the past month or so I've taken the boys to the pet store 3 times and they never once had any interest at all in the guinea pigs. It worried me that they wouldn't be that into it.... but thankfully they are in LOVE with Patch (Cameron named him, but Dylan still likes to call him 'Guinea' and Gabriel call him 'Guinea Pig' and Chan and I call him his original name 'Phil'). To each his own. Anyway, the boys absolutely adore him. His previous owners had two busy teenage daughters that just didn't have time for him anymore. They're the ones who gave him the name Phil. Maybe the boys just didn't seem too into the guinea pigs at the pet store because they never thought they had a chance of ever getting one and kept obsessing over the fish because they felt that they might be able to beg us enough to get one. I think this guinea pig has seen more action (and heard more noise) in one day than he has the past 2 years. Gabriel threw a trantrum because he wanted the guinea pig to put a puzzle together with him and Cam and Dylan made hats for him out of construction paper, pushed him around in a laundry basket, watched tv snuggled with him, showed him Christmas lights as we drove around etc...
The boys also got many other awesome things. Thank you everyone!! I think Chan is super excited that the boys are now getting "cool" gifts that he can play with. Remote control cars, planes, helicopters etc.
What a terrific Christmas. There is absolutely nothing I would change about it! ...not even Dylan's new RC helicopter crash-landing right smack into the cake that was on the table and I had to dig frosting out of it with a toothpick and Q-tip. :)
