The latest

Let's see, what has been going on around here?

The boys haven't been feeling very good. I took Cam to the dr on Friday for a yucky wet cough. Then I had to take Dylan today for a constant dry cough and gooey/crusty eyes. Neither of them act sick, they just don't sound so good.

Cameron's vocabulary has been growing like crazy - it's hard to believe we can have conversations with our 'baby' now! Chan said "It's like he's a real person." haha. He's even been busy memorizing books. He has the books "Brown Bear" and "Engine, Engine Number Nine" memorized and loves to 'read' them to us. You can always find him singing the alphabet song, ring around the rosie, itsy bitsy spider, twinkle twinkle... and his own made-up songs. Today out of nowhere he said "Everyone likes you mama!" That's always nice to hear! :) He not only knows the alphabet song, but he actually knows and recognizes all the letters of the alphabet - upper and lowercase and knows the sound that most of them make.

Cameron has a very limited diet now. He will pretty much only eat plain bread, veggies, fruit and cereal. Hardly anything else. He'll take a few bites here and there of other stuff, but all he wants is bread/veggies/fruit. At least they're healthy. I've tried giving him PB&J, grilled cheese, mac n cheese, lasagna, cheese slices, bologna, chicken (all the typical 'kid' foods), but he has no interest in those anymore. Today for lunch all he would accept was a slice of plain bread and raw baby carrots. Speaking of raw, he would only eat 'raw' corn on the cob the other day. He threw a fit when I attempted to cook it - so I just gave him the raw cob and he ate it right up! At grandma's house his favorite thing to eat are rolls - plain ol rolls (no butter, no jelly - just a roll).

Dylan's been growing up so fast!! He's doing great in speech. I think it's given him confidence. Those of you that know him well knows that he doesn't talk in school. Well, the other day he found a live ladybug and took it to school and showed it to his entire class. Even the teachers were shocked at the way he spoke to the entire class and went on and on about his ladybug. He was very proud of how he talked to his class and how interested they were in what he had to say - hopefully this will give him the confidence he needs to know that it's ok to speak up.

It's amazing how the boys are on the computer. They both are able to load up games and play them on their own. Even Cameron is moving and clicking the mouse like a pro. The other day when Dylan found his ladybug he said "Let's go to ladybug.com!" - he knows the lingo too! :) We got a new play kitchen for the boys and it's missing the ice cubes for the fridge and Dylan suggested we check out "PlayKitchen.com". haha. Even Cameron will come up to me and say "PBSKids.org" when he wants to play games. It took me several years of college to learn the indepth workings of the program Photoshop....Dylan is already fluent in it! Ok, maybe not fluent, but pretty darn good! It's fun to be able to share my interests with him. When I was working as a graphic designer, I used Photoshop every day and loved it. I love that he likes it too. It's an art program and it's not like he just gets on it and starts to mess around doing all kinds of crazy stuff - he actually takes his time and works hard at making things look flawless.

I had my 30 week prenatal checkup yesterday. Everything looks good. The baby is measuring right where he should. His heartbeat sounded good - even though he kept moving around and the nurse would have to hunt for it. :) He's been busy kicking me all day and night long. The boys have a blast squeezing my belly button and making Gabriel "talk". Cam will squeeze my belly button and say "Hi, my name Gabe". Dylan got to see my belly move the other day. Both boys are very intrigued. Cameron still refuses to hold the baby once he's born, he says that "Elmo will". We're still working on breaking him from calling Dylan "Elmo". Sometimes he'll say Dylan, but out of habit it's still often "Elmo".

I have my choice of May 21 or May 23 to have the baby. I think we'll be going with May 21....mark your calendars! :)

Dylan is doing good with reading. Since he knows all his letter sounds he is starting to be able sound out words and is learning a lot of sight words. He has a few books that are made for learning to read (each book has a small vocab of words). I was absolutely amazed at how he read those to me today and sounded stuff out! Part of it is memorizing how the word looks and part is sounding out new words. Of course I'm impressed with how Cameron is memorizing books at age 2, but of course he's not "reading" the words. I think it's great that Dylan is actually reading words. I think he'll do really well in Kindergarten as long as his shyness doesn't hold him back from really enjoying it.

Dylan is starting to get into dinosaurs. I am going to include some dino pics that Dylan drew.
