"The Artist" replies...

When Gabriel makes artwork he likes to photocopy it and put a copy in the mailbox - addressed to "The Artist". I asked him which artist and he just said "The Artist". So we put it in the mailbox to send his work to "The Artist" to look at. Well, the other day "The Artist" sent him a package. Inside was a book called "My Art Book" and it tells about famous artists and then shows a way for kids to recreate a piece of art in a similar way.

Today was the first day we created a piece of art from it. The artist we studied was Giuseppe Arcimboldo (I know, you've probably never heard of him either). He creates artwork using odd materials such as fruit and even fish! Here's a sample of his work below....

Then in Gabriel's book it showed how he can make similar art with fruit, veggies, leaves... and even Legos! Below is the face Gabriel created with Legos. Pretty cool!!

The really cool thing about art is that the artist can decide what the artwork looks like... did you happen to notice the ear wax in the ear on the left!!?
