GABRIEL
Gabriel started wrestling on Tuesday night and loved it! That is a TOUGH sport! The kids were drenched in sweat when they were done. Gabriel has no hesitation of trying to pin the other boys. I think he will make a great wrestler. I loved watching him! The coach is really good too. 2 other boys from Gabriel's class are on his team as well as a boy from playgroup - so he knows 3 other kids his age which makes it even more fun for him. He looks so cute in his little wrestling shoes. :)
Gabriel is doing great in school too. He just got a new teacher because Mr K left to be a principal at Cross Roads. He is reading well and writing wonderfully. He's also picking up math concepts quickly. He's very fast with his addition facts. When we play board games he can instantly add up the die. Proud mama!
CAMERON
Cameron is crazy good on the guitar. His instructor emailed me this the other day:
"While I'm thinking about it.. I know I have mentioned before how
happy I am with Cameron's progress, and I'm sure you can appreciate it,
but he has a true gift! I've probably had about 400 students over the
past 11 years and he really stands out! I expect every student to hit a
wall at some point when other stuff comes up and they don't have the
time to practice as much, but if he keeps this up he has the making of a
Grade A musician! I really look forward to our lesson all week!
I've been meaning to email you for a while about it. See ya in a week!"
Cam has true musical talent and the smarts to learn it. He's going into his 4th month and has played Goo Goo Dolls, Beatles, Nirvana, Turtles, Peter Gunn.... No kiddie songs, just cool music. Proud mama!
Oh, here's something bizarre! Out of nowhere the other night something occurred to me and I was like "No way, it couldn't be..." and come to find out, it was! Cameron's guitar teacher played guitar at our wedding 11 years ago! He was 15 and friends with Ben who sang at the wedding. We've been having lessons with him for 4 months and didn't realize that not only have we met before, but that he played at our wedding. Small world!
DYLAN
Dylan said 'hi' to his teacher yesterday!! I'm so proud of him! He's been trying for a week and a half.
THEN he asked if he could join wrestling. I was very
skeptical because it's a rough, hard core sport. Gabriel just
started, but he has the personality for it. Dylan said he wanted to try
it anyway. I was proud that he was asking to join something so
intimidating, but nervous as to the outcome. He's 10 which means the
boys his size could have been wrestling for 5 years and Dylan is not
aggressive. He's very sensitive and doesn't like being touched and wont
high-five or anything. Long story short I let him join in one wrestling
practice before making a commitment and was shocked beyond belief!! He
held his own out there! He was SMILING and hard core wrestling. He even
went up against a 4 year veteran and only got pinned 1 out of 4 times.
For his first night wrestling and to hold his own against a "pro" was
amazing!! I was so scared because I could tell this other boy was more
experienced and as soon as the whistle blew he SLAMMED Dylan to the
ground - HARD and something like that would have thrown Dylan into a 20
min crying fit, but he was loving it! You have no idea how shocked I
am... and so very proud of him. I did not see this coming. After
practice (which was 1 hr 15 min of intense physical activity) he said he
definitely wanted to join the team. Maybe he really needs this physical
release. I would have never described him as athletic, but am seeing
him in a whole new light. Proud mama!
