It's been way too long...

Today is Thanksgiving and we had a great dinner at Ama's house. The boys and I played wii Party... and shockingly, I won!

On Halloween Night Gabriel lost his very first tooth... but apparently he ate it with his Halloween candy so he had to put a note under his pillow telling the Tooth Fairy that he literally 'lost' it. Then today on Thanksgiving Day Gabriel lost his second tooth! He keeps losing them on holidays. This time he didn't swallow it though. During dinner he just calmly came over to me and said "Look what I did." and he was holding his tooth. Apparently he pulled it out himself. So he's our holiday tooth-loser while Cameron is our vacation tooth-loser.... he lost a tooth a the beach (twice I think), he's lost his tooth at the cabin and he lost a tooth at Great Wolf Lodge. Dylan just loses them on non-holidays and non-vacation days. :) Gabriel is super excited to finally stick a tooth under his pillow.

Gabriel will be starting wrestling in about a week and a half. Dylan and Cam are still doing cub scouts and Cam is still also playing the guitar. Cameron has been taking guitar lessons for only 3 months and he is doing fantastic! He is at the level that most adults reach at around 6 months. I got an email from his guitar teacher the other day that said:

"While I'm thinking about it.. I know I have mentioned before how happy I am with Cameron's progress, and I'm sure you can appreciate it, but he has a true gift! I've probably had about 400 students over the past 11 years and he really stands out! I expect every student to hit a wall at some point when other stuff comes up and they don't have the time to practice as much, but if he keeps this up he has the making of a Grade A musician!  I really look forward to our lesson all week! I've been meaning to email you for a while about it."  - Brent

Dylan's teacher this year, Miss Schin, is wonderful. She is helping Dylan working on speaking goals and rewarding him. She said that his participation has drastically increased over the last week and a half. He has also started on 5mg of Prozac a day. He's been on it about 2 1/2 weeks now. He seems so much happier and calmer - yet I don't think the medicine can take effect that fast, can it? He laughs at things that usually make him super angry. Regardless of whether it's the medication or not, I love seeing him more relaxed.

Can't remember if I wrote it yet or not, but Dylan's mole biopsy came back ok. They said it was an abnormal mole, but that it wasn't anything dangerous. They just said to keep an eye on it just to make sure it doesn't come back since they didn't get it all, but for the most part there is nothing to worry about. It's healing good although it itches him sometimes.

Gabriel (instead of 'oh say can you see, by the dawns early light'):
OH SAY CAN YOU SEE. THE DOCTORS AT NIGHT.

An eventful Halloween day for Gabriel. First he went to school and then we had lunch with Ama. On the way to lunch I called the dr because Gabriel's entire body was covered in a rash head to toe. After lunch we went to the dr and found out he's allergic to the Amoxacillian that he was taking for his sinus infection (he missed 4 days of school last week because of the sinus infection). Then after we went to the dr Caden and Caleb came over. Around 5pm Gabriel said that he doesn't want to be a fireman for Trick or Treat - he wants to be a policeman.... Trick or Treat starts at 6 (one hour!). I quickly threw together a policeman outfit (using Cam's cub scout uniform, some police toys, printed images off the computer and face paint). After trick or treating I looked at Gabriel and said "Where's your tooth??".... apparently he lost his very first tooth -- and literally 'lost' it. I'm guessing he ate it with a piece of his Halloween Candy. We wrote a note to the tooth fairy and put it under his pillow. What a day!

Yesterday and the day before school was closed because of Hurricane Sandy. Luckily it only brought wind and a little rain. Nothing major like they had predicted. Although NYC and NJ got hit really hard. Shockingly we didn't even lose power. We have a nice supply of flashlights now though! Everyone went into full disaster prep mode - all the stores were sold out of flashlights, oil lamps, D batteries, generators, water etc. The kids were SO bummed that we didn't lose power. They were really looking forward to it.

Dylan made his own Gravedigger Monster Truck costume with working headlights and I made Cam an M&M costume. Dylan won 3rd place in the 4th and 5th grade costume contest at Red Mill and won 'Most Original' at the cub scout Halloween Party. Cam won 'Funniest Costume' at the cub scout party.

Dylan had a biopsy at the dermatologist today for a black mole on his right rear. We'll find out the results in about a week. Poor Dylan, it was a looooong, painful shot of Novocain. After he got the shot he bolted off the table crying saying that he's "Not doing it!" He pulled away and put his clothes on while we begged him to let the dr finish. He already did the hard part (the shot) and now they just needed to remove the mole. The dr and nurse left the room for a few minutes and I calmed Dylan down. He agreed to let them finish and I agreed to buy him a Hot Wheels Ballistic and take him for lunch anywhere he wanted to go. It only took a minute to remove the mole and he was fine the rest of the day. We stopped at Target to get his Hot Wheels and had lunch in the cafe there - yummy chicken tenders and Bullseye BBQ Sauce.

We've had a busy week! Last weekend was Cameron's 8th birthday! How can he be 8 already?? It feels like he just turned 5. He had a great birthday party with a dolphin theme. He made his own cake and did a great job! For his birthday we got him his own digital camera, a dolphin blanket, a dolphin stuffed animal and Mario Party 9 for wii. Me, Chan and Ama also got him tickets to spend a few hours playing with dolphins at the Baltimore Aquarium! Mimi got a hotel for Cam and I for the trip. We had a GREAT time!! It was nice to spend the night in the hotel with just Cam and I. One on one time. It had an indoor pool so we got to swim together and played vollyball in the pool. Then the next day we walked to the aquarium and he got to play with a dolphin named Spirit. It was a really nice trip!

Then this weekend we watched the movie The Lorax and had popcorn at home on Friday night and then Saturday we went to Bryson's birthday party and then we all (me, Chan, the boys, ama, Paul and the girls) went out on Ama's new boat. That night they spent the night at Ama's. Then today the boys and the girls went to church with mom and Chan and I went to church by ourselves and then the kids went to moms afterward to play with the girls. Chan picked Dylan up and went to the cub scout rocket launch (the other boys didn't want to go) and then we all came home and had sloppy joe for dinner and watched AFV.

Cameron and Gabriel predicted their future tonight.

Cameron said he's going to have a boy and a girl (the boy first) and the girls name will be Sara and the boys name will be Bob or Steve. Cameron's wife's name will be Susan. One kid will have blue eyes and one will have green.

Gabriel said his wife's name will be 'Rope' and they're going to have two boys. Both will have blue eyes. One will have curly hair and one will have straight hair. One will have freckles. He's going to name them both Gabriel, but if he had a girl he'd name her Alayna.

All three boys had school today. Since Gabriel is only half day Mimi took him over to play with Emmett and Juliet today. I went and bougHt stuff for Cameron's birthday cake - Gum paste to decorate his 'under the sea' cake. And bought things for mom's 64th birthday present. I had lots of friends and family write a memory for mom for her birthday. Then Dylan had environmental club and after that Cameron had guitar lessons.

Cam got his 3 page Goo Goo Dolls song tonight at guitar. It's funny because as he was playing it he said "Wow, it sounds like a real song. Not at all like a lullaby."  I said "Why would you think it was a lullaby?" He said "Because it's the Goo Goo Dolls". I started to laugh. It never occurred to me that he doesn't know that they are a rock band made up of grown men... the name made him think it was a baby song. lol. Then I was thinking back to how he has heard me tell people that I can't believe his first song will be a Goo Goo Dolls song -- he was probably thinking that I was shocked he'd be playing such a babyish song when it's actually the complete opposite. It is a pretty song though - it's mellow. Cameron's instructor said it's the song he always played in high school that made the girls swoon. Just what Cam needs - haha.  I'm super happy that Cam loves guitar and is picking it up so quickly. I love listening to him play.

Then Cameron said, matter-of-factly, "I think I'm just a guitar kind of man!"

June 2012:
The other day when I was cleaning out Gabriel's nose and pulled out an entire mint leaf. I said "There is a leaf in your nose!!" and he just casually said "I thought that might be there. I just wanted to get a good smell of it."
