Let's see, what's been going on?
The other day Cameron said "Dylan, what does P-O-O-P spell?" and Dylan said "Poop", then Cam said "Mama! Dylan said a bad word!" They've successfully learned how to set each other up for trouble. Then I said "How about if we each have to put 25 cents into the beach jar (money for the beach) every time someone says a bad word." Then Dylan said "Cool! Let's say lots of bad words so that we have more beach money and we can get TWO hermit crabs!" .....hhmm, not exactly how I planned it. They're trying to outsmart me.
We noticed that Gabriel seems a little bit behind on his speech. Normally I wouldn't be too concerned, but since we didn't really do much about Dylan's early speech delay, he is now going into his 4th year of speech therapy and I wonder if we should have looked into it earlier. Anyway, when kids are under 3 they qualify for free services and they even come to your house to provide them. We had an evaluator come over yesterday to evaluate Gabriel. Obviously he scored well with motor skills, comprehension etc... To qualify for speech therapy a child has to have a 25% or more delay in speech. He came in around 29%. So it's only a minor speech delay, but luckily it's enough to qualify for speech therapy. I think he actually LOVED the one-on-one attention during the evaluation. The lady was on the floor playing with him for like 2 hours. Poor little Gabriel hardly ever gets that much attention. I think he'll really like having someone come weekly to "play" with him. I figure that since it's free, it doesn't hurt to have it looked at now before he gets school age.
Once I download some photos from my camera I'll have more to write about.
