Gabriel was standing in front of the potty waiting to go when he paused and said "My pee is loading." Is this a sign that kids today are just way too technologically advanced??
Speaking of Gabriel, he is now starting to spell and read. He's doing great with sounding out 3 letter words and he can also write his name.
Chan and I went to the boys' conferences at school the other day. Both boys are doing great! Since this blog is just for a select few to read, I guess it's ok for me to brag and be proud of the boys. :) Dylan got all A's and B's on his report card and is raising his hand more and talking out loud in class (but still isn't talking to the kids in class). He got A's in spelling, science and social studies! In cub scouts Dylan won top sales for popcorn again this year and also earned his Whittling Chip which means he can now carry a pocket knife to cub scout functions and he's been practicing whittling bars of soap. The other day I took him to buy his own pocket knife. Wow, I can't believe he's old enough to carry a knife!
Cameron is acing kindergarten - which we kinda expected. He already knows all the 60+ words that they want kindergartners to be able to read by the end of the year, so his teacher gave him the first grade list to work on (which he already knows too). He scored 100% on reading accuracy on a level 6 book (pretty much the rest of the class is on level 1) and even the level 6 book is a cake walk for him. Since he is further ahead than most of the kids, the teacher is having Cam work with some of the kids who need extra help. Cam is a great teacher and I think he enjoys helping the other kids. Right now his teacher just said to start having him work toward paragraphs instead of just writing one sentence and for him to be more conscious of remembering what it is he's reading.
I bet kindergarten teachers hear a lot of crazy stories from the kids... I know that I've heard some wild stuff just the few times I've been in there! Like the girl who told me she can't use scissors anymore because she cut off some ladies hair and the kid who told me that his mom has two pee pee's and the boy who told me that his mom cleared out his room and there's nothing left in it..."nothing at all". Well, apparently even Cam has a way of saying things, like the time I was in his class and the teacher was reminding the kids about "Wacky Sock Day" (where the kids are to come to school in wacky socks) and his teacher said to me "Cameron informed me that every day is Wacky Sock Day in his house because you can never find socks that match." Thanks Cam for sharing that! :)
The other day my neck hurt really, really bad and that night Cam said "I hope your neck still hurts tomorrow so I can make you a card". It's sweet that he wants to make me a get well card... not so sweet that he hopes I continue in pain so that he can make it. lol.
The other day Gabriel said "I can't wait to get presents at Christmas" and Cam got instantly defensive and said "It's NOT about the presents!! It's about the birth of Jesus!!"
Gabriel has a way of just saying some crazy stuff. Not sure what goes on in that head of his. Like last night when we were laying in bed and he said "If my imagination goes under the table it'll get broke. Those are the rules for my imagination." Um, ok. (or as Gabriel would say, Um, Pig.)
In the car today Cameron said to Gabriel "I know everything! Oh, no I don't, I don't know 1,000 x 1,000.... Wait! It's one million. I guess I do know it all." Guess we should stop filling his head with so many compliments about how smart he is... don't want him getting any cockier.
