The weekend

Let's see, where to begin?

Cameron has changed his mind about using the potty. He was SO excited at first and was so proud of using the potty, but has since decided that it just isn't for him. Let's hope we can sway him back toward potty use soon!

Ok, I know that this is totally inappropriate and may gross out EVERYONE, but we just couldn't resist. If you're squeamish look away! This may clue you in to one of the reasons we're sick of changing Cameron's diapers. This is what we found when we took his shorts of................ Just when you think you've had a bad day..........................................

Are you sure you want to keep reading? You never know what you'll read about on here!

Dylan has been doing SOOOOOOO good in school! We are just amazed - esp after how he was in preschool. He loves going to kindergarten and is doing WONDERFULLY! He's even starting to read and write completely on his own. He is sounding out words and writing his own sentences! After he read a book for school he had to write a sentence about it. He wanted to write "I like the book". Completely on his own he wrote "I lk __ book." They use what's called 'kid writing' where they sound it out and write what they hear. He knew 'I' and he heard an L and K for 'like' and he knew how to spell and write the word 'book'. If they don't know any of the letters in a certain word they just put a 'magic line'. After he writes his sentence I go back over it with him and fill in the blanks. He got a stamp on his paper and got to pick out a prize from the prize bucket because he had one of the best sentences in class! And to think that his pre-k teachers told me that he didn't know his letters and didn't know how to write at all. He sounded out and wrote all the letters on his own and even remembered to put a period at the end of his sentence. Today he brought home a new book and read the whole thing to me! (w/ the exception of a few words). I'm just blown away by what he's doing.

Cameron is growing up so fast. When did he get so big!? He likes to do everything his big brother does - including reading and spelling. The way his birthday falls he might not be able to start kindergarten for 3 years yet! This is especially shocking considering that he does a lot of things at a kindergarten level already and he's still 2!! People are always shocked to find out that he's not even 3 yet. He's also the king of singing. He sings everything and is always making up new songs or singing songs to new melodies. He has tons of confidence and can be quite the instigator. He's a mommy's boy. He's my shadow and freaks out if I leave the house. He's so sweet and gives the best hugs and kisses!!

Dylan had his first school skating party this weekend. When we got there two boys yelled over "HI DYLAN!!" and Dylan asked me if it was ok for another boy in his class to play air hockey with him. They played the game together and had a great time. At first the roller skates were pretty hard for him and Cameron, but we got the wheels tightened a little and they were both going on their own a bit. You should have seen all the parents there with roller skates/blades on trying to hold their kids up and giving each other looks that said "What the heck are we doing!?" It would have been much smarter to start the kids out on the skates while the parents were still wearing shoes - not skates. Parents were being pulled to the ground all over the place. I have to admit though, it was fun to skate around pushing a stroller - helps keep the balance! Thanks Gabriel! Of course we didn't take him out on the rink, but we all took turns skating around with him.

We took Duke to the Doggie Swimming Pool..... he swims about as well as a rock! Thankfully they have doggie life vests there and he got to do a few laps. The doggie life vest had a handle on the top. Chan couldn't resist picking Duke up by the handle - and I couldn't help but notice that he looked like a 'Duke-case' (get it? instead of suitcase!)

It's a nightmare to take Dylan to the doctors. When he needed to go for his 5 yr checkup, Mimi took him and he kicked and screamed the whole time. They had to hold him down. He freaks out if a stranger touches him. Well, today I got a call from the school nurse saying that Dylan was sent to the nurse because he was coughing a lot. She said that his temp was 99.7 and then about 45 min later it was 99.9. My first thought was not that he was sick (I knew he was fine), but it was 'Dylan let her take his temp!?" I said to the nurse "Is he being good?" and she was like "Oh yes! He's been wonderful!" What!!!?? Are we talking about the same kid? School has really changed him around big time! Of course I wouldn't dare point this out to him. It's best to keep quiet and just enjoy it. He never ceases to amaze us. He likes to keep us guessing.

I feel like I should write something about Gabriel. There hasn't been too much new going on. He has his 4 mo check up tomorrow and I'm sure I'll have something to write. He gets into giggle-fits now. It's so cute. He just bursts into laughter! Oh, and he's also starting to play with toys. He'll grab at the toys on his play gym and loves to get his bouncy seat bouncing. He also babbles A LOT!! "agg, ahh, goo, uugghh".
