Dylan started speech therapy today. It went really well! I like the therapist a lot. I knew that the therapist would either make or break how well it went. She instantly got on the floor and started playing cars with him and she gave him a lot of praise and was upbeat and fun. Dylan didn't talk much, but he was laughing hysterically and got right on the floor with her and at the end he was leaning up against her to get some stickers - as most of you know, he doesn't normally get close to strangers. The first two session she is just going to play with him without any other objective. She said at each session she will read a book to him and then they'll work on saying words from the story etc. He'll be going every Monday from 2:15-3:00. He actually cried when it was time to go today. He said "I don't want to go. I want to come here every day!" I'm really glad he likes it. She praised him whenever he'd answer her by pointing or shaking his head. She wants him to get comfortable with her and trust her without putting a lot of pressure on the 'speech' aspect right away. Which is great. I was very fearful that they'd try to set him down and have him talk (like in his evaluation)...which just makes Dylan clam up and not speak at all. By the end of the session he was talking outloud to me in front of her. All in all it went well and I think he's going to really enjoy going and the therapist seems to know exactly how to get Dylan to open up.

Tonight at dinner Cameron said "Burp!".....after he farted. lol.

We finally took 'the plunge'....we've entered the world of mini-vans! We traded in the SUV for the "Bryson Family Truckster". At least as far as mini-vans go, it's pretty cool.... it has heated leather seats! Since we bought pre-owned this time, we were able to get all the bells and whistles. But the most important features are the all-around 5 star crash test rating and the side curtain airbags. Those were a must. (It's a 2004 Mercury Monterey.) Now all I need is a soccer ball magnet for the back so that I can receive the official title of 'Soccer Mom'.

Cameron cracked me up the other day. We were at the hardware store and I was having some paint mixed up. While we were waiting, I looked over and saw Cameron playing near the cans of spray paint. He didn't know I was watching him. One by one he'd pick up a can (with a colored lid) and he'd sniff the lid and go "mmmm" (as if it smelled good). Then he'd pick up another can and do the same thing. Over and over he'd pick up a new can (with a different colored lid) and sniff it and go "mmmm". That's when I realized that he thought they were scented candles! lol. Whenever we're shopping and we see scented candles, Dylan and I like to smell them. Cameron usually just inhales with his mouth and probably has no idea what we're doing, but goes along with it. So there he was, enjoying the wonderful fragrent scent of... spray paint lids! :) It was so cute and I couldn't help but laugh out loud.

The boys are loving all the colorful Christmas lights, but Dylan makes it perfectly clear that he doesn't like the white lights. He only likes "rainbow" lights. Of course Chan will tease him as we're driving around at night and say "Dylan look at those! Do you like those?" as he points to a house covered in white lights. Dylan gets so upset. "I don't like white lights!" We normally have white lights on our Christmas tree, but as Chan pulled them out to hang them up, Dylan burst into tears at the sight of them! Luckily we have a ton of extra colored lights, so this year we've made the switch to the pretty colorful lights.
