Dylan is a very thoughtful little boy. I have tw0 stories that are really sweet...
Sometimes when Mimi takes the boys to the grocery store she has Dylan buy me flowers. After all, there is nothing sweeter than teaching a little boy to buy his mommy flowers. Well, the other day Chan bought me flowers and when Dylan saw them he said "Who got you those?" I said "Daddy did". Dylan looked hurt. He said "I want to buy you flowers." He's used to being the one to do so. Later that evening I said that I had to run to the grocery store and that I'd be right back. Dylan kept begging to go. I said "No, I'm just going to run in real quick and come right home." That's when he started to fight back tears. I said "Dylan, I'll be right back." He just looked up at me with tears in his eyes and said "But I want to buy you flowers." So, of course I couldn't ignore that request. We went to the store and he took his time picking out the perfect flowers - some Christmas ones with glitter sprinkled on them. Of course even the flowers at the grocery store were $15-$20..... so I kept trying to convince him that the pointsettias were nice (for $2.99. Cheap mommy). But he insisted on the pretty ones with glitter. So mommy paid the $15 so that Dylan could get his mommy flowers. He was so proud of his flowers and he put them in the mini shopping carts that they have for the kids to push around the store. He handed them to the cashier to pay for them. He'll make a wonderful husband some day.
Mimi had taken Dylan out shopping before Christmas and she asked him what he wanted to buy me for Christmas. I have no idea where this came from, but he came up with the most perfect gift all on his own.... he knows how much fun we have at the beach every summer, so he wanted to get mommy 'the beach'. He told Mimi that he wanted to get me a fountain. I love fountains, but I know I've never mentioned it to Dylan. He told me that the fountain will make the sound of the water - like at the beach. And then he found some scented shells and beach potpourri and an Ocean Breeze scented candle. He keeps asking me if I like my beach. What smart thinking for a 4 year old - to come up with the concept of recreating the beach at home since he knows how much I love it. He shops better than most grown men!
