It's hard to believe, but there are only THREE days of kindergarten left! It feels like only yesterday Dylan was 4 years old and I was dropping him off at preschool as they held him down screaming and crying - and now we're nearing the end of kindergarten. Dylan has grown so much this year in so many ways. I still can't believe his preschool teacher told us NOT to send him to kindergarten. We almost didn't - thank goodness we didn't take her advise. Here he is reading books, writing paragraphs, doing addition/subtraction, telling time, learning geography etc... If he were still in preschool he'd still be tracing the letters of the alphabet and doing the hokey pokey (or NOT doing the hokey pokey in Dylan's case. lol).
Tomorrow is Field Day at Dylan's school. I'm volunteering and will help with the games. It's sad that the year is over. I was helping out in his classroom last week and I had to take everything down off the walls. The kids seemed a little distraught. This is the first time that they've had to see a school year end (it's much different than pre-k). They had to watch me take down their color charts and their anchor words (the words that they had to learn to read/write).
Mr K said that he and the other teachers made up the class lists for next year and he put Dylan in the same class as Cora and Connor. That was pretty cool of him. Of course the principal as the final say over class lists and if for whatever reason he needs to change things around, he can. Mr K also said that he might be switching to 4th grade. Wouldn't that be crazy if Dylan had Mr K for 4th grade too.
