Cub Scouts, Soccer & Stuff

Last night was the first cub scout meeting... Chan is the den leader and I'm the unofficial "den mother". We made it through! The 1st grade level is tiger cubs. Later this month we're going on a fossil dig and we're going to be touring either the Patriot News or one of the local tv studios. We're also going to be in the New Cumberland Halloween Parade, having a rocket launch and, of course, the famous Pine Wood Derby.

Chan, the leader of the pack.

Dylan has cub scouts on Tuesday nights and soccer on Wed nights & soccer games Sat mornings. Cameron start soccer on Saturday as well (at a different place...not sure how we'll juggle that yet). And Cameron starts preschool next week.

Crawling is still faster than walking

Cute photo of Cameron and Gabriel playing soccer together

When we only had two kids, it seemed like I was super busy and running non-stop... but now that Dylan's in school all day and I've dropped from having 3 all the time to only having 2, it seems like a vacation! lol. It's funny how easy two seems after having all three 24/7 this summer. When Cam starts preschool and I only have Gabriel, I'm going to feel naked. It'll be so strange to just have one little guy, even if it is only for 2 hours at a time.

Well, we have two new hermit crabs now: Peppermint and...well, now that I think about it, I don't think Dylan has chosen a name yet for his new one (he's only had it for 2 weeks now). Before these two arrived we still had Brown Crab and Greeny Crab... then they both went MIA. There's good news and bad news. Good news is that we found both of them. Bad news is that Brown Crab went up to crabby heaven. Seems as if he must have crawled up the couch and fell into the gigantic Geo Trax bin and was never able to crawl out. Crazy thing is that there was no shell with him. hhmmm. Just a crusty little crab body laying amongst the train tracks. What a way to go. This is what life is all about when you raise 3 boys. :) Today I found Greeny Crab in the hallway - alive.

Gabriel is a climber. Today Cameron called me from his bedroom... "Gabriel is climbing the ladder!" he yelled. I ran into the room to find 15 mo old Gabriel up on the top bunk of the bunk beds! Boy did he get PO'd when I took him down and removed the ladder! Then later today I found him on top of the kids table downstairs and then on top of the back of the couch. If you ever babysit him, make sure you keep your eyes on him. Last thing I want is him trying to climb a dresser that can tip or climbing onto a patio chair next to the balcony on the deck!!! Oh, and he'll try to climb into the tub alone too.

Dylan's music teachers son is on Dylan's soccer team. Which means his music teacher is at his practices and games. Today she came over to me and said that in music class she went around and had each child sing a solo in class...and Dylan did it!!! She said that even she was shocked and that there was no way he would have done it last year. She was so impressed she wanted to come over and tell us. She said he was still kinda quiet, but he didn't hide his face or whisper it or anything. I'm sure it was still hard for him (as it would be for most people), but I'm so proud and happy to hear that he did it. Of course he still wont talk to a stranger/acquaintance who say's "hi" and he wouldn't say where he went to school at cub scouts last night (or do the pledge of allegiance), but he's still moving ahead in the right direction!

This is what we found in the bathroom tonight. Naked wet butt sliding.

This is how long Gabriel's hair is when it's not
stacked up in curls on top of his head

The blacktop was too hot for Cameron's bare feet.
So he decided to stand in a bucket of water while he painted.
