Had our friends Deena, Josiah and Ava over for a play date yesterday. The kids did the usual outdoor stuff (water slide, swing set, sandbox, pool) and we had a nice picnic of pb&j's, apples, pineapple, blueberries and pudding. As the kids exhausted themselves running around, Deena and I relaxed in the shade chatting...occasionally stopping to break up an argument between the kids. :) Actually, the kids played really good together.

Chan and Mimi are on their 150 mile MS bike ride... in 100 degree temps!! They totally earned every last penny they raised! Awesome job guys!

Dylan's friend Caleb who lives down the street called him and asked him to come over to swim. Dylan is there now, but was a little freaked out when I left because he isn't very comfortable in the water yet (and it's a pretty deep above ground pool - over 4ft everywhere). So before I left I got him settled with some pool noodles. I hope he's doing alright. I think he was a little uncomfortable too because I was dropping him off in a pool with Caleb, Caleb's little brother, another neighbor kid that Dylan doesn't know and both of Caleb's parents. I'm hoping that once I left he settled in ok. After I dropped him off me, Cam and Gabriel went to Bruster's for ice cream. On the way home we drove past Caleb's house and it looked like they must have headed inside to play. Dylan's never been dropped off at a friends house before - ever. I've always stayed with him at every bday party and every playdate. I'm hoping all goes well.

This morning I took the boys to Lowes for a really cool kids workshop they had going on. The boys got these really nice aprons and a patch to sew on it. Each time the kids attend one of these free events, they get a new patch to add to their apron. Some of the kids there had their aprons covered. I'm looking forward to taking them to many more of these. Sadly we'll miss the next one (where they make a bug catcher) because we'll be at the beach, but I'll be keeping my eye out for future ones. Today the boys made these really neat UFO's that were made of wood and have a blinking light on top. They got to nail it together and put the light in it and put the stickers on. It even has landing gear that goes up and down. After Lowes we passed a small flea market where the boys scored some more Hot Wheels cars... as if Dylan needs anymore, he already has well over 100 of them. He got some good deals though...some were only 10 cents.
