Yesterday we met mom for lunch at Perkin's and then after Cam/Gabriel's nap we spent the rest of the day outside. I finished cleaning the garage out (you can see the floor now!) and once the garbage truck comes and I donate the rest of the yard sale stuff, I might actually be able to get my car in there! The boys played with the hose for hours (yes, they were 'wasting' water, but it kept them entertained and cool in the 95 degree temps). They washed my car, watered the plants etc... so they were very helpful and didn't even realize it. Found out that Gabriel is very good at t-ball - maybe he'll be our sports fanatic. Once the sun started to set a little and the sandbox was in the shade, the boys played in there for a long time making "slobberoo"...it's the slimy concoction they always make with sand and water. We had meatball subs on the deck and then spent the evening on the front porch - all 5 of us waiting for the ice cream truck. The boy brought out markers and paper and Dylan and Cam wrote books and Gabriel drew an awesome train picture. Once it got dark we got the sparklers out and just as we decided to give up on the ice cream truck, it came ringing it's bell around 9:30pm. I think we are literally the last house on the route. What's worse is on Wed nights when we put the boys to bed at their regular time and they are just dozing off and the "It's a Small World" jingle starts blaring outside their window...they all jump out of bed "PLEASE can we get ice cream!!!!" I think if the ice cream truck is going to show up at 9:30 at night it needs to shut that music off -- esp since it still does it once school starts and the kids start going to bed early. Anyway, it was a really nice, fun, simple summer day.
